Doubling organic revenue for a fashion retailer with technical SEO and content

European fashion & lifestyle retailer

Editorial illustration of compounding organic-search growth — a rising traffic curve with content and ranking motifs.

Representative case study. This is an industry-level example of the outcomes we deliver on engagements of this type — the client isn't named and the figures are illustrative, not a specific audited record.

The challenge

A growing fashion retailer had plateaued on organic search. Rankings were volatile, thin category pages competed with each other for the same terms, and a slow, crawl-inefficient site meant Google was spending its time on the wrong pages. Paid media was papering over the gap at an unsustainable cost.

What we did

We started with the foundations, not the content calendar: a technical SEO audit fixed crawl waste, duplicate templates and site-speed issues so the pages that mattered could actually rank. Then we rebuilt the category and editorial content around real search intent, consolidating cannibalising pages and filling genuine gaps — measured in Search Console and GA4, not vanity metrics.

Organic search had quietly become this retailer’s most expensive channel — not because it cost much to run, but because it wasn’t working, and paid media was covering for it. The instinct in that situation is usually to publish more content. We did the opposite first: we slowed down and fixed why the existing pages weren’t ranking.

Technical foundations before content

As we’ve written before, content and links get the credit, but if a crawler can’t efficiently reach, render and understand your pages, none of it counts. The audit found the usual culprits behind a plateau: near-duplicate category templates competing for the same terms, crawl budget wasted on faceted-navigation URLs, and a site slow enough to drag on rankings and conversions alike.

Fixing those came first. We consolidated cannibalising pages, tightened the site architecture so authority flowed to the pages that mattered, and resolved the Core Web Vitals issues holding the whole domain back. None of it is glamorous; all of it is what makes the later work pay off.

Content built on intent, measured honestly

Only then did we rebuild the content. Rather than a volume play, we mapped real search intent across the catalogue and editorial sections, consolidated the thin pages that were splitting signals, and filled the genuine gaps where the retailer had authority to win. Every decision was checked against Google Search Console and GA4 — we optimised for revenue and qualified sessions, not a rising line on a rankings tool.

The technical SEO and content work reinforced each other: a fast, well-structured site made the new content rank faster, and the content gave the newly-crawlable architecture something worth ranking.

The figures above are illustrative of the outcome this approach delivers on a representative engagement; the client is not named. What carries across is the sequence — fix the foundations, then earn rankings with intent-led content, and let measurement, not guesswork, decide what to build next.

If organic search has stalled and paid media is quietly subsidising it, that’s exactly the work we do. Let’s talk.
